Miss Jessica started her love for dance at the age of 2 at a studio in Chesapeake, VA. She started training in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, Irish, and pointe. Throughout her years of training she then started competing all over the east coast, including nationals in New York City and Orlando. Once Miss Jessica attended high school she started training more intensely at Denise Wall’s Dance Energy located in Virginia Beach. During high school she started assistant teaching in many classes and by her senior year of high school she even had her own class.
After high school, Miss Jessica attended Old Dominion University. During her freshman and sophomore year she was on the Dynasty Dance Team performing at all the football and basketball games as well as attending community events around the ODU area. Once she decided she wanted dance to be her major she started performing in all the semester concerts and assisting professors for many lecture classes in the dance department. Miss Jessica was a part of group pieces and as well performed solos during these concerts. During her college years she choreographed pieces for her peers and herself to perform.
Some fun facts about Miss Jessica are that she worked in Disney World in Orlando, Florida under the Disney College Program for 8 months. She was also a competitive figure skater that attending Jr. Nationals, trained in Russia for a month, and received many awards and medals for her success at a young age. She loves spending time with her kitties, Lily and Murphy, and her dog, Chrome, as well as spending time with her family and friends. Miss Jessica will be getting married to her fiancé Benjamin in December of 2021!
Miss Jessica is so excited for her third season at SSDA and her second season acting as the Assistant Director. She looks forward to a great season at Shining Stars Dance Academy so she can share her love for dance and to make her students the best dancers and versions of themselves!
